This decorative tile is created using the newsprint transfer technique. Think of it as (not so) temporarily tattooing the clay; the design is carefully painted onto newsprint, covered in slip, and then placed face paint-down onto leather hard clay. Using a sponge, you gently dampen the newsprint and peel it away, leaving a textured design in its wake.
